When the pandemic significantly impacted the global retail market, The Dubai Mall, the world's largest mall, had to rapidly transition towards a digital focus. Home to 1200 stores, including 150 high-end luxury brands, the mall aimed to replicate its in-store dynamics and hierarchy within the online experience.
As a hands-on designer, I crafted the look, feel, and structure of the platform while also taking on the responsibilities of a lead role. I mentored a small design team dispersed across various time zones, and established a feedback, request, and delivery system using Jira and Figma. By building a design system based on atomic design principles, we were able to iterate ideas at any stage of the process.
